Health and safety goals:

  • favourable working conditions and occupational safety;
  • fostering sustainable employee motivation for safe workplace behaviour.

The Health, Safety and Environment Committee (the HSE Committee) is responsible for coordinating health and safety efforts, providing methodological guidance, and developing ways to improve the health and safety management system.

The HSE Committee aims to decrease the workplace injury rate and boost industrial safety throughout the Company. To that end, the committee pursues the following objectives:

  • improving the effectiveness of efforts aimed at ensuring health and safety at the Company and its subsidiaries in Russia;
  • increasing the responsibility of executives and other employees of the Company and its Russian subsidiaries for ensuring favourable and safe working conditions;
  • assessing the effectiveness of initiatives and improving the health and safety management system at the Company and its subsidiaries in Russia;

Elements of the health and safety monitoring system:

  • second-party health and safety management system audits;
  • safety behaviour audits;
  • multi-stage control;
  • ad hoc, targeted and comprehensive inspections.

External health and safety audit

According to the DuPont Science and Technologies assessment of October—November 2016, the increase in the industrial safety culture level (Bradley Curve indicator) to 2.5 (as at November 2016) was driven by the implementation of risk mitigation standards, safety communication campaign and dedicated risk mitigation programmes.

Health and safety performance indicators

The Health and Safety Strategy approved by the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors in 2014 lays out plans to reduce production-related accidents by 15–20% (in absolute terms) every year, with zero fatalities being one of the strategic objectives.
